Margherita Pizza Easy Weeknight Dinners
Ingredients:
- 1 (16-18 oz) ball of pizza dough
- 1/2 cup tomato sauce
- 8 oz fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
- 10-12 fresh basil leaves
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 500°F or the highest temperature your oven can reach. If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to preheat.
- Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to form a 12-14 inch circle. Place the dough on parchment paper or a pizza peel if using a pizza stone.
- Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the pizza dough, leaving a 1/2-inch border.
- Arrange the sliced mozzarella cheese on top of the sauce.
- Tear the basil leaves into smaller pieces and sprinkle them over the cheese.
- Drizzle the olive oil over the pizza.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Transfer the pizza to the oven and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove the pizza from the oven and allow it to cool for a few minutes.
- Slice and serve hot.
